Top 3 green smoothie recipes

I’m very much into my smoothies. I’ve always loved smoothies and I practically lived off them at Uni. (Forever missing the amazingly cheap fruit and veg stall outside my Uni building *sobs*). I remember in final year my housemate bought this amazing blender (The Breville Blend Active) that I just thought was the bees knees. Instead of having a jug that you had to clean (because who can be bothered with that, really?) you filled the bottle you’d be drinking from with fruit, screwed on the blade attachment, blended, then replaced the blade with a lid and rinsed the blade under water.

I’m not even lying to you, it was like some sort of black magic. Like a “holy crap why would anyone ever use a conventional jug blender ever again” epiphany and I swear to you I turned into the heart eyes emoji.

Well ever since I graduated, I have debated buying the blender so many times but never got round to it. It’s so cheap so honestly, I don’t even know why I never bought it. But BOY am I glad I didn’t! Because a few weeks ago, some fab peeps at AO.com contacted me and asked if I’d like to be sent one to review. Well I sat reading the email thinking all my Christmases had come at once and obviously accepted their very generous offer. Hashtag blogger perks.

When the blender arrived, I got it out almost straight away and started playing about with it and it was just as fab as I remembered. (And Joe absolutely loves it too, so thank you AO!) I thought it would be fun to put together a little recipe post of my favourite smoothies just so you guys can get an idea of what I like to have. I chose green smoothie recipes because healthy, but all of these green smoothies have different levels of green – so you’ll definitely be able to find something that floats your boat.

The ‘super-duper green antioxidant’ smoothie (600ml)

Top 3 green smoothie recipes | robowecop

  • 2 handfuls spinach
  • 1 banana
  • Small handful blueberries
  • 1/4 an avocado
  • Coconut water

This is the “greenest” of the green smoothies, but good lord does it taste amazing! You’ll get tonnes of antioxidants from the spinach, blueberries and avocado, a nice dose of healthy fats and loads of potassium from the banana (and the avocado). Then the coconut water will thin the smoothie a little (so, you know, you can actually drink it) along with giving you some energising electrolytes and sweetening it up a bit.

The ‘everything except bananas’ smoothie (600ml)

Top 3 green smoothie recipes | robowecop

  • 1 handful spinach
  • 1/4 an avocado
  • 2 clementines
  • 1 handful chopped strawberries
  • 1 handful blueberries
  • 1 handful chopped mango
  • Coconut water

Warning: this smoothie is a disgusting colour. Like, really disgusting. But I can promise it tastes fantastic! And you’ve got so much of everything in it, it’s filled to the brim with vitamins and antioxidants. Definitely one for someone with a sweet tooth (thanks to the mango and the strawberries) rather than if you’re a fan of more tart/sour fruits. Perfect for anyone who doesn’t like/is allergic to bananas.

The ‘I guess this counts as green’ smoothie (300ml)

Top 3 green smoothie recipes | robowecop

  • 1 handful spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1 handful chopped strawberries
  • 1 handful chopped mango
  • Coconut water

As you can tell, I love coconut water in smoothies. Not even sorry. (This one has small measurements because we used one of the smaller cups that come with the Blend Active, so feel free to double up.) A very basic smoothie with a small shot of spinach to add extra goodness and ‘green-ness’, this one is extremely summery (thanks, mango) and more of a yellow-green in colour.

So there you go, my top 3 green smoothie recipes all varying in their green-ness. So even if you don’t like healthy things, you can very quickly (And very easily) inject some fruits and veggies into your life. If you want to pick up a Breville Blend Active blender you can get it for only £30 (down from £44!) from AO.com here. You’re welcome. Hit me up on Twitter with any photos if you make any of these banging smoothie recipes!

I got that blender for Christmas but have been struggling to find recipes that I would like! I’m glad I have found one with blueberries as I’ve been trying to find a recipe that I could incorporate blueberries into, can’t wait to try these out and thank you for the post x

  • I love that blender, I have one too! But I don’t use it as often as I could or should just because I lack of imagination to do smoothies haha This post was great and I will surely try them out

  • I really need to order another one of these – I ordered it last time from Amazon and because I wasn’t in they took it back and refunded me … and I never bothered to re-order it … it’s not on special anymore so might order from where you’ve suggested :) I love Banana & Strawberry smoothies – maybe not the healthiest but they taste amazing! Tesco started doing these frozen bags of smoothie ingredients and you just add apple juice and blend – such a great idea!! :)

  • I love coconut milk in my smoothies. I actually started to add spinach. I’ll have to try this recipe!

  • If you love coconut water smoothies you should definitely try a coconut kale smoothie. I usually use a banana, a generous handful of kale, shredded coconut, coconut water and frozen pineapple chunks – it tastes like a super healthy pina colada! Amazing! Not green, but I’m also obsessed with pomegranate juice, blueberries and banana smoothies – so yummy! x

These sound so good! I’ve never tried putting avocado in a smoothie before, I’ll have to give it a try!

  • I think the everything except banana would be my favourite – even though I love banana ;). I wish I made more smoothies, the main reason I don’t is because I can never be arsed to clean out the smoothie maker!

  • These look so good! I just made myself a peanut butter and banana smoothie!

    • That sounds incredible!

      • Oh it was!
        1 large banana
1 heaping spoonful of peanut butter
1 (ish) cup of almond milk (I rarely measure things)
1 (ish) teaspoon of vanilla extract
and a couple shakes of cinnamon sugar
and then about 4-6 ice cubes.
        SO GOOD!
Then when it’s done and I pour it into a glass I put more cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top.
I’m going to do a blog post on it soon.

            xo.

  • These look amazing! I love the fact you can buy frozen kale/spinach in supermarkets now, makes making healthy smoothies so much easier! :) Also, I’ve just discovered your youtube channel and can I say I love your accent! And your videos too. :)

  • These look so amazing! I just got a food processor so will definitely have to be testing them all out! Such a great post :) x

  • Robyn Taylor

These look SO YUM. I like smoothies but I’ve never made a single one in my life… oops! They’d be a good way to actually get me to consume fruit.

  • We’ve just got a blender, and I’m excited to try making smoothies and juice for breakfast. It seems like a great way to get a big hit of vitamins and nutrients without having to gorge on salad all day! Love the sound of the third one with mango & strawberry!
